KINGS OF SOPHENE. Mithradates II Philopator, circa 89-after 85 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.70 g, 3 h), Arkathiokerta (?). Diademed and draped bust of Mithradates II to left, wearing bashlyk tied with a diadem; behind, two countermarks: MIΘ in rectangular incuse an prow of a galley to right within circular incuse. Rev. [BACI - MIΘ] Club; two countermarks: MIΘ in rectangular incuse and prow in round incuse. Kovacs 35. For countermarks, Kovacs p. 79, 13 and 22. Patina stripped and with a large flan crack from countermarking, otherwise, very fine.
